Henry McCarty (November 23, 1859 – July 14, 1881) was better known as Billy the Kid, but also known by the aliases Henry Antrim and William Harrison Bonney. He was a 19th century American frontier outlaw and gunman who was a participant in the Lincoln County War. He was reputed to have killed 21 men, one for each year of his life. A little slice of American history from the Edison Black Maria studio from November of 1894, shows the real life Annie Oakley, shooting fixed targets and tossed glass balls. Truly a fascinating little piece of film that bridges the real Wild West with a theme that was to run through countless fictional movies in the century to follow. The only problem I had with this was her close proximity to the targets.

After Steely Dan's 1981 breakup, Fagen released his solo debut album, The Nightfly (1982), which has been favorably compared to his Steely Dan work.

TULSA, Okla. – Oral Roberts, the evangelist who rose from humble tent revivals to found a multimillion-dollar ministry and a university bearing his name, died Tuesday. He was 91.
Roberts died of complications from pneumonia in Newport Beach, Calif., according to his spokesman, A. Larry Ross. The evangelist was hospitalized after a fall on Saturday. He had survived two heart attacks in the 1990s and a broken hip in 2006.
Roberts was a pioneer on two fronts — he helped bring spirit-filled charismatic Christianity into the mainstream and took his trademark revivals to television, a new frontier for religion.

There seems to be a lot of bits written about Canada these past weeks.
I betcha that some of you had no idea that in 1957 a little series was shot in rural Pickering, Ontario. It eventually ended up having more than one title when shown worldwide in syndication.
At the time, it was up against the best that was being made across the border. It's of common knowledge that the show managed to be more rugged and realistic than most others at the time. It was photographed outside, far away from the sunny west coast of America. Some of it looks quite cold.
it did cause a lot of attention at the time with a total of thirty nine performances that were brought and eventually marketed widespread overseas.
Chingachgook and Hawkeye were played by Lon Chaney, Jr. and John Hart. On set, both were up against the weak-minded badness both encountered each week.
You could see that they were clearly enjoying themselves in the two iconic roles.
Unfortunately, the clincher to this was that it got itself a tough deal when advertisers had misunderstood the productions producers. With this approach, the end was over for the frontier side of life. *E*
