Ambrose Small Case 1919 One of the most intriguing missing persons cases is that of Toronto theatre magnate Ambrose J. Small. Small was last seen alive on December 2, 1919 after selling his theatre chain for $1 million--a fantastic sum in those days. He lunched with his wife Theresa at the King Edward Hotel, gave her the check to deposit in their bank account, bought some newspapers from a young street vendor--and vanished forever. Small's disappearance was not reported to the police by his wife for nearly two weeks, leading to speculation that she was involved. Theresa was well known in Toronto for her charitable deeds and was used to Ambrose vanishing without warning for extended periods while away on gambling binges. To spare Theresa embarrassment, the Toronto Police did not formally announce Small was missing until his disappearance was reported in the Toronto Star in January 1920. Small had made his fortune in the theatre business staging low-brow plays often with risque themes. After his disappearance it was discovered that Small had a secret 'love nest' above his Grand Opera House in Toronto where he often 'entertained' chorus girls. Not long after Small vanished, his bookkeeper John Doughty vanished too with $105,000 in bonds taken from Small's safe deposit box. Doughty was later found in Oregon and arrested for theft. He was given a five-year prison sentence. Despite international headlines and a $50,000 reward, no trace of Small was ever found. An elderly Grand Opera House employee claimed to have overheard a violent argument between Small and Doughty on the afternoon Small vanished. The case was officially closed by Toronto police in 1960. Modern investigators recently found a memo written by an investigating officer in 1936, a year after Theresa died. The memo stated there was ample evidence that Ambrose Small had been murdered and that both Theresa Small and John Doughty were guilty of the crime--indicating that the Toronto Police were somehow involved in a major cover-up. The ghost of Ambrose Small is said to haunt one of his old theatres in London, Ontario.

The Beatles HEY JUDE This song, recorded by The Beatles in 1968, and originally titled 'Hey Jules', was written by McCartney to comfort John Lennon's son, Julian, during his parents' divorce. Julian discovered the song had been written for him almost twenty years later. He remembered being closer to McCartney than to his father: 'Paul and I used to hang about quite a bit more than Dad and I did. We had a great friendship going and there seems to be far more pictures of me and Paul playing together at that age than there are pictures of me and my dad.' Although McCartney originally wrote the song for Julian, John thought it had actually been written for him: 'I always heard it as a song to me. If you think about it... Yoko had just come into the picture. He's saying. 'Hey, JudeóHey, John.' I know I'm sounding like one of those fans who reads things into it, but you can hear it as a song to me. Subconsciously, he was saying, 'Go ahead, leave me.' On a conscious level, he didn't want me to go ahead at all.'

Creature Comforts Electricity Ads Nick Park made these for an electrical supplier in the UK. Better known for his Wallace and Gromit movies, all the voices used were un-scripted by ordinary members of the public being asked what they thought of their total heating package? Nick and Aardman productions then took these and used the characters from an earlier hit of his, Creature Comforts, and used his magic to create the ads. Love the Scottish pandas.

Featured Member- Steve I was born a poor black boyÖ..I always wanted to use that in a bio! Can anyone tell us what movie that is a quote from and why it is funny? So many of you are clamoring for my bio so you have to give the public what they want! I was born into a military family so we moved around a lot as young kids, fortunately I had four brothers .We were hardly ever indoors playing with our Man From Uncle toy sets, our play guns, trucks and of course our bikes. I love coming across a posting from our members that stir up the memories from childhood like you Iím sure! I remember the theme to Perry Mason as I was just getting settled for bed, or someone posting a movie that just mom and I watched together, or the memories from high school from a song I had forgotten. After high school I entered the U.S. Navy and served onboard the U.S.S. America (CV-66). After four years with the Navy I worked for the cable company as an installer and left being a line technician within 4 years. I then started my own video production company. Iíve also worked and trained as a professional photographer so those two trades kept me busy until the economy tanked. I currently freelance for the local TV news and look to expand this with other stations and I also am starting a new website for brides, Iíll let you know when this launches. I am married to TerryAnn and we have a 14 year old son Alex and a daughter Catie who is 7 going on 17. We also have two cats named Sonny and Cher (of course!). I started YRTwhen I was frustrated with not find much memorabilia on the internet. Iím sure most of the clips on YRT is on YouTube, but you have to know what you are looking for and often times you have to be very specific in your search. So YRT is all the memories growing up under one roof! I love it when a member posts something I would never think of, itís like seeing an old friend again. Speaking of friends, thatís what makes this site so special, making friends with the members around the world!

High Flight In December 1941, Pilot Officer John G. Magee Jr, a 19-year-old American serving with the Royal Canadian Air Force in England, was killed when his Spitfire collided with another aircraft inside a cloud. Just a few short months before, he composed his immortal sonnet 'High Flight, a copy of which he fortunately mailed to his parents in the U.S. I remember watching this video on our local tv station at sign-off, before they began broadcasting 24/7. To this day, these words still gives me goose-bumps.

Bette Midler Wind Beneath My Wings I can hear Cathy now....'so sappy!!' lol Yes, I agree, but it's also a beautiful tribute that expresses how fortunate we are when we have one friend who is always there to love us and accept us, even when we screw up. This is for that friend.
