captain pugwash first screened on british TV in 1957.
He was the master of the Black Pig, is a rotund and somewhat less than fearsome pirate, who nevertheless engages in the usual piratical activies involving lost treasures and so forth. His arch enemy is Cut-Throat Jake, captain of The Flying Dustbin. Despite his blustering optimism and self-importance, Pugwash is usually unobtrusively saved from catastrophe by Tom the Cabin Boy.

A vintage Jimmy Jet in action. Deluxe Reading sold these in grocery and drug stores and their toys were place on the top shelves to keep grubby little hands like mine from them. I remember bugging the heck out of my parents for this toy and many others. Most of Deluxe's toys were big and fanstastic! The grocery and drug stores had lay away for the items because most of these toys cost a week's salary back then. Please excuse the filming. I was sick when I was doing the filming and looking through a view finder. The lights were dimmed so you could see how it operates.

Here’s one of many examples of our country's ‘hometown’ moral support ads during WWII. This one features a Lockheed P-38 Lightning. This ad appeared in Life Magazine and Popular Mechanics in 1942. Go get’em Maj. Richard Bong! (Richard Ira Bong was America's all-time Ace of Aces, downing 40 enemy planes in the Pacific theater of the war while flying P-38 fighter planes. Bong was killed August 6, 1945, the day the Enola Gay dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima, when the P-80 Shooting Star he was testing for Lockheed stalled and crashed on take-off.)

This song, I Got a Name, was released as an album the day after Jim (who was just 30) died on September 20, 1973. He and his songwriter-guitarist,Maury Muehleisen had just completed a concert in Natchitoches, Louisiana, and were flying to Sherman, Texas, along with a comic who was part of their warm up
show. The pilot and all passengers were killed instantly at 10:45 PM EST, less than an hour after the end of their last concert. Upon takeoff, the small plane did not gain enough altitude to clear an area of large pecan trees at the end of the runway. The official report from the NTSB stated that the charter pilot, who had severe coronary artery disease, may have suffered a heart attack causing him to crash the plane into the trees on a clear runway with excellent visibility. A later investigation placed sole blame for the accident on pilot error.

Here's the story behind that group now known as Ricci, Desi and Billy. Ricci Martin, Desi Arnaz Jr. and Billy Hinsche were old friends, who grew up together in Beverly Hills, California. Their common bond was the music they made. Ricci, Desi & Billy is their newly formed musical group featuring original material as well as the songs of 60's musical teen sensations Dino, Desi & Billy (Desi & Billy's former group). Though this is a new configuration of the original band, the last names remain the same - Martin, Arnaz and Hinsche. The idea for this group came at a benefit for the late Carl Wilson of the Beach Boys, which was held at the Roxy Theatre in Los Angeles. Desi and Billy performed a song which Desi had written called "My Old friend" in honor of their friend and partner Dean Paul Martin (Dino) who died in a plane crash while flying for the California National Guard in 1987. Ricci performed his hit single, "Stop, Look Around" from his critically acclaimed album "Beached", co-produced by Carl Wilson and Billy Hinsche. There was such a powerful, magical feeling that night, that Ricci, Desi and Billy decided to form a trio.
