The Flashing Blade The Flashing Blade (Le Chevalier TempÍte) is a French television serial made in the late 1960s, which was broadcast in the UK on BBC children's television during the 1960s, with several re-runs in the early 1970s. Dubbed from French into English, the action was set in 17th century France, during a period of war between France and Spain. The dubbing was not exactly brilliant, so in the 1980s John Culshaw redubbed a comedy version (which is the one I remember best). In the '60s and '70s the BBC had a habit of buying childrens programmes from European countries which were then very badly dubbed into English - often to hilarious effect.

New Technology for the TV Exciting new technology for 1955, I don't think there could have been much channel hopping then.

Flashbacks of Rob and Laura Petrie The Dick Van Dyke show, one of our all time favorite sitcoms, with Mary Tyler Moore, Ann Marie, Morey Amsterdam, Richard Deacon and Carl Reiner. Wish they were still on the air.

Brownie Starflash For Steve One of the most popular Brownie models was the Brownie 127, millions of which were sold between 1952 and 1967. The Brownie 127 was a simple bakelite camera for 127 film which featured a simple meniscus lens and a curved film (and I thought MENISCUS was TORN CARTILAGE!!!! LOL

Louis vs Galento 1939 On June 28, 1939 Joe Louis defended his world heavyweight title aginst Tony Galento. Two-Ton Tony was a 9-1 betting underdog--for good reason. His physique was more suited to a pie-eating champion than a heavyweight boxing contender. He had a pretty decent left hook and not much else. Nevertheless, Tony put up a decent showing against Louis. Galento even managed to score a flash knockdown in the third round before he himself was knocked out in round four.
