The Tinkertoy Construction Set was created in 1914—one year after the A. C. Gilbert Company's Erector Set—by Charles H. Pajeau and Robert Pettit in Evanston, Illinois. Pajeau, a stonemason, designed the toy after seeing children play with pencils and empty spools of thread. here at age 17 (her studio says 16), had her first pin-up photo shot taken. This was taken right after she was in HOLIDAY IN MEXICO in 1946. (PLOT "Ambassador Jeffrey Evans (Walter Pidgeon), a widower living in Mexico, has his hands full with his teenage daughter Christine (Jane Powell). Christine runs the entire household and tries to manage her father's private life as well. But love threatens to wreck all her carefully made plans: an earnest young classmate (Roddy McDowall) is hopelessly in love with her. . .Ambassador Evans is smitten with a beautiful singer (Ilona Massey). . .and poor Christine isn't sure where she fits in anymore! In the Year 2525" hit number one on the pop charts in 1969. It claimed the #1 spot for six weeks, a remarkable achievement. It also topped the charts in the UK. Coincidentally, it was number one on July 20, 1969 in the USA, the date of the first manned moon landing by astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin. It was nominated for a special Hugo Award that same year.
