Upstairs Downstairs Upstairs, Downstairs was a BAFTA and Emmy award-winning British drama set in a large townhouse in Edwardian London that depicted the lives of the servants "downstairs" and their masters "upstairs". It ran on ITV for five series from 1971 to 1975. First shown in the US in 1974. Upstairs, Downstairs attempted to portray life in a high-status house set against the events of early 20th century. Great events are featured prominently in the episodes but minor or gradual changes are noted as well. It stands as a document of the social and technological changes that occurred between 1903 and 1930. The lives of the servants are integral to the story.

Early MASH opening sequence The opening sequence from MASH. It's hard to tell which season this is from, but it had to be one of the first three because Wayne Rogers and McLean Stevenson are listed as cast members. MASH was truly a groundbreaking show. It could not be easily defined as comedy or drama, but it was often compelling. It garnered 99 Emmy nominations in its 11-year run. The final episode remains the highest-rated show in American TV history.

Oh My Erica Susan Lucci is best known for playing the larger-than-life diva Erica Kane on the ABC television soap opera ALL MY CHILDREN, on which she has appeared since the show's inception on January 5, 1970. She was nominated for the "Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series Emmy" for her work on ALL MY CHILDREN almost every year since 1978. When Lucci didn't win the award after several consecutive nominations, her image in the media began to be lampooned, as she became notoriously synonymous with never winning an Emmy. NBC's SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE exploited this by asking her to host an episode (unusual for a daytime serial actor), where her monologue parodied the cast, crew, and even stagehands carrying Emmys of their own in her presence...

I Love Lucy At The Sixth Annual Emmy Awards I Love Lucy At The 6th Annual Emmy Awards! In these excerpts from the earliest existing Emmy Awards telecast, Vivian Vance accepts the Emmy for Best Series Supporting Actress (from none other than Lucy's former radio co-star Richard Denning) and then Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz accept the Emmy awarded to I Love Lucy as the Best Situation Comedy of 1953. ("I love Lucy" received no awards for comedy writing that evening. AT that time, the Academy had not yet decided to award Emmys for writing)

Americas Sweetheart at 61 Happy Birthday to Sally Field! Sally is the daughter of actress Margaret Field and step-father Jock Mahoney, also an actor as well as a stuntman. Sally managed to finish high school, but early on it was clear she would follow in her parents' footsteps, and she soon got the lead role in the 1965 TV series "Gidget", quickly followed by "The Flying Nun" which ran from 1967-1970. American was in love with her wholesome, girl-next-door persona. The role that got Sally noticed as a more serious dramatic actress, was her portrayal of the title character in the TV movie Sybil, a woman suffering from a multiple personality disorder. The part won her an Emmy in the Best Actress category in 1976. Hollywood now saw Sally Field as more than just a pretty face. She had raw talent they were more than happy to exploit. But Sally didn't altogether abondon her comedic side and proved this by starring opposite Burt Reynolds in the two Smokey And The Bandit films. Nevertheless, her best work came through in dramatic roles, and Sally went on to win Oscars in the Best Actress category for both Norma Rae and Places In The Heart. Aside from acting, she has also produced and directed several projects for television, including directing an episode of the acclaimed mini-series, From The Earth To The Moon. Sally has two sons from her first marriage, Peter and Eli. And Samuel, from her second marriage.
