The New Treasure Hunt Anyone else remember this wacky, syndicated game show? Airing from 1974 through 1977, it was sort of a cross between Let's Make A Deal and Deal Or No Deal. A lucky contestant chose one of 30 numbered boxes. A box might contain anything from a worthless prize (known as a clunk) to $25,000--a fantastic sum back then. After choosing a box, the contestant was put through an emotional wringer by host Geoff Edwards. This clip from 1976 provides a good example of what typically occurred on this show.

Peter Sellers Pink Panther I laughed at these clips until I literally had tears streaming down my face. NO matter how many times I watch them, they're still the best comedies that have ever been on the big screen. And Peter Sellers was a natural, his type of comedy can't be learned, it's a gift! So enjoy!

Donny and Marie - Morning Side of the Mountain Another memorable Donny and Marie Osmond song: Morning Side of the Mountain. This one did well on the charts in 1974, peaking at #8 on the Billboard Hot 100. (It ascended to the top spot on the easy listening chart for a week.) Tommy Edwards originally had a hit with it back in 1951.

Jackpot Here's another 1970s game show I liked that didn't last too long: Jackpot. It aired on NBC from January 7, 1974 through September 26, 1975. Contestants had to solve riddles to win cash prizes. Geoff Edwards was the host. Sadly, only two episodes of this game show are known to exist on videotape!

Bob Bogle of rock band The Ventures dies at 75 Bob Bogle, lead guitarist and co-founder of the rock band The Ventures, known for 1960s instrumental hits like "Walk, Don't Run," and "Telsta", has died at age 75. Don Wilson, the band's other co-founder, stated that Bogle became ill over the weekend and died Sunday. The band sold millions of albums and heavily influenced other rock guitarists. It was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2008. Among its other hits were "Perfidia" and the theme from "Hawaii Five-O." The band got its start in 1958 in Tacoma. Bogle played lead and bass and Wilson played rhythm guitar. They were soon joined by Nokie Edwards, another guitarist, and drummer Howie Johnson, later replaced by Mel Taylor.
