Paul Newman Passes at 83 Paul Newman, the Academy-Award winning superstar who personified cool as the anti-hero of such films as "Hud,""Cool Hand Luke" and "The Color of Money" - and as an activist, race car driver and popcorn impresario - has died. He was 83. Newman died Friday after a long battle with cancer at his farmhouse near Westport, publicist Jeff Sanderson said. He was surrounded by his family and close friends. In May, Newman had dropped plans to direct a fall production of "Of Mice and Men," citing unspecified health issues. He got his start in theater and on television during the 1950s, and went on to become one of the world's most enduring and popular film stars, a legend held in awe by his peers. He was nominated for Oscars 10 times, winning one regular award and two honorary ones, and had major roles in more than 50 motion pictures, including "Exodus,""Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid,""The Verdict,""The Sting" and "Absence of Malice." ******MORE IN COMMENTS******

Then and Now- Erin Murphy- Tabitha on Bewitched The topless photo of Erin Murphy on the internet isnít what you think. Erin began her career while still in diapers. Discovered by an agent, as her mother pushed her stroller in Los Angeles, Erin got her first job, playing a boy in a commercial for Folgers Coffee, at eleven months. Her next job was a detergent commercial with future President Ronald Reagan. Right before her second birthday, ABC came calling, and Erin was cast as little witch Tabitha Stephens on the top ten sitcom, Bewitched. Millions of fans around the world tuned in to see if Tabitha had inherited magical powers from her mother Samantha. They delighted in Erinís antics as she turned bullies into bulldogs and bullfrogs, played piano like a maestro and skated like Dorothy Hamill. After eight seasons, 23 Emmy nominations, and 254 episodes, Bewitched gracefully ended without cancellation. Despite the fact that Bewitched was filmed in the 60ís and 70ís, the popularity of the show endures. Entertainment Weekly recently named Bewitched one of the ď100 Greatest TV Shows of All TimeĒ and for the 50th Anniversary of TV Guide. Immediately following Bewitched, Erin turned down a part on The Waltons to go to Girl Scout camp, but she didnít lose her love for the business. During her teens, Erin modeled and did numerous commercials. Today, she is 44 and has worked as a casting director, a makeup artist, a fashion stylist, an acting teacher, a motivational speaker. With her engaging personality, sense of humor and ability to appeal to audiences as diverse as Nickelodeon and Howard Stern, Erin is a popular celebrity host. Sheís been featured on numerous programs, look for her on as the host of the Ab Shark infomercial for Thane & the Bun Shaper infomercial for Emson!

Featured Member- SpruceMoose My name is Wayne. I was born in 1952 in a town about 40 miles east of Los Angeles, California. For the last 57 years, I have lived within shouting distance of Route 66. I have always been a big fan of trivia, especially history. A brief dabbling in genealogy revealed that I'm a direct descendant of Edward III, but my friend Dolores Cullen, a scholar of Geoffry Chaucer, was more impressed that the bard's first patron, John of Gaunt is something like my 19th great-grandfather. I was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose for quite some time, where my wife, Linda and I both served as officers. When she passed away I consoled myself with the internet, where I discovered YRT, and I'm also an habitue of Yahoo Answers, where I endure bad spelling and nonexistent punctuation in order to offer guidance to young people. My profile picture [avatar] is of me, taken in about 1963, judging from the roller skates and my godparents' 1962 Chevy that was originally in the background. Just to make myself a little more interesting, I am currently homeless, living in one motel room or another, or occasionally staying with a friend. I'm so old, I can remember when Knott's Berry Farm, Southern California's oldest theme park, had free admission, and you bought individual tickets for each attraction.

Thomas Ince Scandal 1924 One of Hollywood's most enduring and juicy scandals occurred on November 19, 1924. On that date producer/director Thomas Ince died suddenly on The Oneida, William Randolph Hearst's luxury yacht. Ince and several other celebrities were aboard the boat for a belated get-together for Ince's 42nd birthday. The official police report says Ince died of a heart attack. However, most Hollywood historians think the truth was more sinister. For years stories circulated that Ince had been shot to death by a jealous and enraged Hearst. One version has Ince getting way too friendly with Hearst's mistress, Marion Davies. Another version has Charlie Chaplin getting caught in the act with Marion--and Ince being accidentally shot by Hearst with a bullet meant for Chaplin. Chaplin's secretary stated she saw Ince being carried out of the yacht with a bullet hole in his head. The first edition of the next day's Los Angeles Times declared that Ince had been shot to death. Later editions of the newspaper had all references to gunplay expunged--an indication of how powerful Hearst was. Ince's body was quickly cremated, eliminating any chance his remains could be exhumed. Louella Parsons, a small-time entertainment writer from New York, was also aboard The Oneida. Immediately after this incident, she became a star writer in Hearst's syndicated newspaper chain. Was she rewarded for maintaining her silence about what happened on The Oneida that fateful day?
