Sal Mineo had an up-and-down acting career. His chief fame remains from playing opposite James Dean as a 17-year-old in Rebel Without A Cause (1956). By the 1960s Mineo could no longer be cast in youthful roles, and he was deemed wrong for adult lead roles. However, by 1976, Mineo's career had begun to turn around. Playing the role of a gay burglar in a San Francisco run of the stage comedy 'P.S. Your Cat Is Dead,' he received substantial publicity from many positive reviews and moved on to Los Angeles with the play. Arriving home after a rehearsal on February 12, 1976, Mineo was stabbed to death in the alley behind his West Hollywood apartment building. He was stabbed just once, but the blade struck his heart leading to immediate and massive internal bleeding.
For years Mineo's murder was unsolved. However, a pizza deliveryman, Lionel Ray Williams, was sentenced to 57 years in prison for killing Mineo and committing 10 robberies in the same vicinity. Although there was considerable confusion relating to what witnesses had seen in the darkness the night Mineo was murdered, it was later revealed that prison guards reportedly overheard Williams admitting to the crime. Williams claimed he had no idea who Mineo was. Williams was paroled in the early 1990s, but was soon jailed again for criminal activity. Many of Mineo's friends believed that Williams was not the murderer, especially since a blond white man was seen running from the incident.

The longest game (by innings) in Major League Baseball's long history was a 26-inning, 1-1 tie. It was a National League game between the Boston Braves and Brooklyn Robins played at Braves Field in Boston on May 1, 1920. Amazingly, both starting pitchers--Brooklyn's Leon Cadore and Boston's Joe Oeschger--went the distance. Since night baseball didn't begin in MLB until 1935, the game was stopped by plate umpire Barry McCormick due to impending darkness. It had to be replayed in its entirety, but all the stats from the 26-inning tie counted. Remarkably, by modern standards, the game took only 3 hours and 50 minutes to play. It had started at 3:00 p.m., as was the custom in those days, and ended at 6:50 p.m. Several players unsuccessfully lobbied umpire McCormick to extend the game one more inning so they could say they played the equivalent of three nine-inning games. The press box at Braves Field did not have electric lights so reporters and telegraphers had to submit their accounts of the record-setting game using candlelight. Some trivia from the game: The score had been tied 1-1 since the sixth inning. The attendance was about 3,500.
Cadore faced 95 Boston batters. Oeschger pitched to a mere 90 Robins, but his 21 consecutive scoreless innings established a record. Braves' first baseman Walter Holke recorded the ridiculous total of 43 putouts. Boston's second baseman, Charlie Pick, set a record too, but not a positive one: His one-game total of 11 official at-bats without a hit has never been matched.
Years later Cadore remembered the aftereffects of the game. "My arm stiffened. I couldn't raise it to comb my hair for three days," he said. "After seven days of rest I was back taking my regular turn. I never had a sore arm before or after the game. I suppose the nervous energy of trying to win the game gave me the strength to keep me going."

Created out of the darkness, a unique spin at following the shambling fortunes of two very wet lost folk in the woods. That's not all though, with now the unknown before them, they in the manor, who came from some different place unseen, were looking at turning them (the two) from unexpected guests into subjects. They, the inhabitants, they were not average. No, not at all.
What had began in 09/75 with a California theater was however puzzling. What was taking place? Other methods being used to draw people into other presentations weren't working like it. But across state-lines, it wasn't really that hot. Soon enough, it changed with interest. A year later, 12 am was more suitable for the stretch of weird actions, brought repeatedly on weekends. It was unheard of. Who exactly came up with that idea? Soon, Texans and New Yorkers caught on with winding oneself to the confetti littered seating at a late time. It was an timely start that went over well to other suburbs you may know of. How about cities like Portland and Milwaukee? They never closed their doors. And it all originated from the stage culture found across London. Will you tell us, were you one who was involved in the strangest suggestiveness? It should be noted that Miss Susan, had actually got herself very sick during the weeks that were spent in England. Reason: Too wet and cold! What a sad state to be in. All in all, it took eight weeks to to put it into a soon to be hit. As you know, that took a lot of convincing and luck at the right time. *E*

I have recently found out that there are quite a few of you who do remember '80. At least it appears to be just that. Isn't that why we and you are sitting here?
In truth, it was based on a book about immersions into darkness and light.
Who wrote it? Actually, the writer had only one book in him. With the film, I still remember seeing it in the theater just after Christmas.
And you? Remember? It sure made an attempt at making you think on the entire likelihood of it. Do you believe? It was a pretty odd story at the time. *E*
