Soft Cell Tainted Love I love the song...who doesn't ?! "Tainted Love" is a song composed by Ed Cobb. It was originally recorded in 1964 by Gloria Jones, and later made popular when covered in 1981 by Soft Cell. It has since been covered by numerous other groups.

Howard Cosell Final Boxing Broadcast Here are the final two rounds of Larry Holmes' one-sided heavyweight title defense against Randall (Tex) Cobb in Houston in 1982. The fight was notorious for Howard Cosell's negative, anti-boxing commentary. Cosell never worked another bout.

Ty Cobb Day 1924 Detroit Tigers' great Ty Cobb was honored by local dignitaries before a home game at Navin Field versus the Washington Senators on Saturday, May 10, 1924. Cobb, 37, who was in his 20th season with the Tigers, was given a set of books as a token of appreciation for his many exploits on the baseball field. (Detroit's ballpark was called Navin Field in 1924. It was later renamed Briggs Stadium and then finally renamed Tiger Stadium.)

Ty Cobb Steals Third Base This is a terrific action photo snapped by famed baseball photographer Charles Conlon that is nearly 100 years old! (Some sources date the photo to 1909; others claim it was taken in 1910.) Ty Cobb of the Detroit Tigers steals third base. Jimmy Austin of the Philadelphia Athletics is the third baseman. Austin was upended by Cobb's hard slide. Notice there's no uniform number on Austin's back. They did not come into vogue until the late 1920s.

America Comes of Age Where Dreams are Born t has been called the great American Pastime. From sand lots to vacant lots, there isn't a young boy ... or girl, for that matter, that hasn't had the dream. The dream of being up to bat, in the bottom of the ninth with the bases loaded and "touching them all" to the deafening roar of the crowd. Baseball is truly as American as Apple Pie and the Fourth of July. Where Dreams are Born is a journey back .. To when legendary ballplayers were mere mortals .. Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, Bucky Harris, and Walter Johnson. The 1924/25 major league season.
