Daktari Spin off series from the 1965 movie Clarence the Cross eyed Lion. 1966 through 1969. The show was about protecting the animals. Starring: Marshall Thompson, Cheryl Miller, Hari Rhodes, Yale Summers, Hedley Mattington,Don Marshal, Jan Clayton, AND Erin Moran ( yes Joanie Cunningham from Happy Day's). I guess I shouldn't leave out Judy the Chimp or Clarence.

Me And The Chimp One of the worst sitcoms ever to grace the American TV airwaves was 'Me And The Chimp.' It ran for 19 painful weeks on CBS from January 13 to May 18, 1972 before being yanked. Ted Bessell starred as dentist Mike Reynolds. Anita Gillette played his wife Liz. The plot revolved around the Reynolds family taking in a runway chimpanzee, and the primate's subsequent misadventures. This TV turkey was created by Garry Marshall and Tom Miller. Both later worked on major hit shows Happy Days and Laverne And Shirley.

Ted Bessell 1935-1996 Remember actor Ted Bessell? He had hoped to be a pianist; as a youth he performed at Carnegie Hall. However, he drifted towards an acting career. He was best known for portraying Donald Hollinger, the steady romantic interest of Marlo Thomas' character Ann Marie on That Girl. The two became engaged in the 1970 season. That Girl ran from 1966 to 1971. Following that series, Bessell starred in the truly awful sitcom Me and the Chimp, which ran for 13 dreadful episodes in 1972. In 1976, he played Joe, Mary Richard's love interest, in two episodes of The Mary Tyler Moore Show. It appeared that Bessell was going to be added as a permanent MTM cast member (and perhaps become Mary's husband), but it never panned out. Bessell was about to direct the big screen version of Bewitched when he died suddenly of an aneurysm in 1996. He was just 61.

Gordon Griffith - First Movie Tarzan Most film history sources will list Elmo Lincoln as the first actor to play Tarzan on screen (in the 1918 silent film Tarzan of the Apes). That's not entirely true. In that same silent film, a 10-year-old boy named Gordon Griffith played the young Tarzan well before Lincoln appeared on the screen. It was a challenging role for the boy actor. Griffith was required to do his own climbing and acrobatic stunts and interact with live chimpanzees--which he did excellently. True to the Edgar Rice Burroughs book, Tarzan wore no clothes as a youth, so most of Griffith's scenes were shot with him totally nude. There was no national film code in 1918, but some scenes that showed too much of Griffith from the front were cut by local censors, including those in Chicago. Thus the public domain prints of the movie vary in length and in the amount of time Griffith was on the screen. Griffith, who like Tarzan lost both his parents at a young age, spent most of his life in the movie industry. He died in 1958 of a heart attack at the age of 51.
