Budgie in 1971 along came one of my favorite tv series... Budgie. it was written by Keith Waterhouse,an starred Adam Faith as Ronald 'Budgie' Bird - a chirpy cocky cockney, just out of prison, and scraping a living on the edge of the law. Budgie was an eternal failure and every scam, and every attempt to make his fortune landed him further and further into trouble, either with the police, or with his untrustworthy sometime boss, the cynical Charlie Endell, a respectable club owner on the surface, and underworld villain below it.

In 1961 came the TV show top cat
The central character, Top Cat — called T.C. by close friends — is the leader of a gang of Manhattan alley cats: Fancy Fancy, Spook, Benny the Ball, The Brain, and Choo Choo and the local policeman, Officer Charlie Dibble.

Here's two top of the chart songs from Charlie Rich on his appearance in Pop Goes the Country in 1979. Although these two songs brought him fame in the mid 70's, his real love was playing blues and jazz.

Charlie Rich had so much more talent than he was given credit for, he was a genius when it came to the piano, wrote and played not only country music, but blues and jazz as well. Here's one of his hits from the 70's that we hardly ever get to hear anymore.

Extremely historic place for Hollywood buffs. Spanish Revival style. Opened in 1929 with owners including Louis B. Meyer, Douglas Fairbanks, and Mary Pickford. The first academy awards were held here in 1928 or 1929 (then called the "Merit Awards") in the "Blossom Room". The set for the TV show "This is Your Life" was located here. The Cinegrill was a famous 1940s nightclub still existing inside. Marilyn Monroe used to stay here and her ghost is said to still haunt the halls (hey - it helps business). Reasonable rates, but rooms facing Hollywood Blvd may be a bit noisier. You can see the hotel in the films Beverly Hills Cop II and Charlie's Angels 2.

One of the first posts I ever made to this website was the tear-jerking final scene from Charlie Chaplin's masterpiece, City Lights (1931). Here's an amusing scene from very early in the movie when Charlie stops to admire a sculpture.
