Vic Morrow's first movie role was in Blackboard Jungle (1955). After this movie, he went into television and was cast in the TV series Combat! (1962-1967)Sadly, Vic Morrow is most famous now not for his life but for his death; together with two Vietnamese children, Morrow was killed in a still-controversial helicopter accident while filming on location for 1982's Twilight Zone: The Movie.

A vintage Topper Toys Johnny Seven One Man Army produced in 1964. The top selling toy of 1964! It was called the One Man Army because the gun has 7 functions. A complete one in the box commands top dollar! The gun was released during the Vietnam War and I guess they were getting Johnny ready for WAR. During this era, many televisions shows had a war theme, such as Combat and others. Topper Toys was a divsion of Deluxe Reading Corporation who only sold toys on the top shelves of grocery stores and drug stores (out of the reach of our grubby little hands) while Topper Toys sold there line in toy stores. I remember bugging the heck out of my parents to get me those toys and most cost a weeks salary. They don't make em like this any more!!!! It would be a Politically Incorrect! Where's OSAMA???

pretty risque "LUCKY LADY"! i was looking for a pic of Marjorie Bong Drucker for jimmyjet . . who went from homecoming queen to World War II "nose art" queen. She met and dated military aviator Richard I. Bong in 1943. When he returned to combat, he put her picture on his plane rather than one of the pinup girl paintings known during the war as "nose art." And when Bong became the top U.S. air ace of the war, his girlfriend's image became famous throughout the United States. After he returned from the front, the two had a storybook marriage. . .

Annette Funicello reminisces about her singing career and how the "Annette" sound was created. She announced in 1992 that she suffers from multiple sclerosis. She had kept her condition a secret for many years, but felt it necessary to go public to combat false rumors that her impaired carriage was the result of alcoholism. That same year, she was inducted as a Disney Legend. In 1993, she opened the Annette Funicello Fund for Neurological Disorders at the California Community Foundation. She is truly a beautiful and courageous lady, who will always be loved and admired by all of us.

A younger Michael Richards as 'Combat Kid' on ABC's 'Fridays'. This was what SNL used to be, high energy, edgy and hip. SNL had become tedious and chances are that if you thought the same about Friday's you were just too young to understand the comedic references. SNL had become a media institution at that point, like Rolling Stone, which used to be considered part of The Underground Press, and if you had a media product to peddle it was simply a base that had to be touched by the star or written into the sketches. Friday's didn't care about any of that. From the announcer's screaming greeting 'Liiiiiiiiiive, from the Los Angeles basin!' to music by that day's hippest bands, Friday's showcased some of the most outrageous comedy to be found on TV. Most people remember Darrow Igus's Rasta Gourmet 'Do we bake it?' 'No no no no!' 'Do we fry it?' 'No no no no!' 'til finally 'We SMOKE it!' 'ya ya ya ya', exclaimed Igus' gourmet, whose only spice was Ganja. Michael Richard's Battle Boy got sicker and sicker as he developed the character, finally taking his little Sister hostage, burying her in the ground and threatening to torture her Barbie. Then there were the times he set his Army men on fire, complete with simulated screams. Very bizarre, but funny!

The fate of postwar Europe was decided in 1945 at the Soviet Union resort city of Yalta on the Crimean Sea. With Nazi Germany on the verge of defeat, the leaders of the three major Allied combatant nations met to decide the fate of Germany and eastern Europe. Franklin Roosevelt is visibly ill and weary from the long journey. The British Empire is in decline and Winston Churchill can no longer assert any strength. By default Josef Stalin is given free rein to deal with matters in eastern Europe. The Cold War was about to begin.

Here's an interesting video about the world medical catastrophe of the 20th century: The Spanish Influenza Pandemic. In a matter of a few months in 1918-19, 21 million people around the world died from the flu. To put this in perspective, about nine million combatants had been killed from 1914 to 1918 in the First World War.

"Overshadowing September 11, 2001, another September day 139 years earlier remains the bloodiest single day in American history. On September 17, 1862, there were more than twice the number of fatalities that were suffered in the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon . The number of casualties at Antietam was four times greater than American casualties at Normandy. more American soldiers died at Sharspburg (The Confederate name for the battle) than died in combat in all the other wars fought by this country in the nineteenth century combined:" — James McPherson, historian
This day has come to be remembered as
