The Famous Slimer Ecto Cooler Commercial 1990s Sorry for the bad video, best I could do till I find a better one. This belongs int he 80's and 90's section, More the 90's why? Cause it was so awesome and sold like crazy. Ecto-Cooler was a product tie-in with the cartoon series The Real Ghostbusters, based on the 1984 live-action film, Ghostbusters. Hi-C struck a deal in 1987 to promote the series by developing a drink. Expected to last only as long as the series, the drink was successful beyond expectations and continued after the series' 1991 cancellation to be produced for more than a decade. The Ecto-Cooler box featured The Real Ghostbusters character Slimer, as did the commercials. Slimer left the box sometime around 1997, but Minute Maid did not discontinue the product until 2001, at which point it was renamed Shoutin' Orange Tangergreen. Slimer was replaced on the packaging by a similar-looking blob of lips. The product was still noted as ecto cool on many store receipts. In 2006, Shoutin' Orange Tangergreen was renamed Crazy Citrus Cooler. In 2007, Crazy Citrus Cooler was discontinued. In 2011, a Chicago Ghostbusters group made a recipe that was said to taste exactly like the original.

Irv Weinstein - Last Newscast Farewell I generally try to make posts that appeal to the widest variety of people, so you might rightly ask, "Who is Irv Weinstein?" If you lived in western New York or southern Ontario from 1964 to 1998, Irv was the familiar anchorman of Buffalo's WKBW newscasts. Irv combined with weatherman Tom Jolls and sports director Rick Azar for more than 30 years of service to Eyewitness News on Channel 7, an ABC affiliate. Their news program regularly attained higher ratings than the other two Buffalo newscasts combined. For some reason, Eyewitness News had a strong following in Ontario--although there was no logical reason why anyone in Canada should regularly watch a Buffalo newscast. Irv was famous for his alliterations. You could pretty much count on a news story about "pistol-packing punks" or "Buffalo's blaze busters." Here is the final three minutes of Irv's last broadcast from December 31, 1998 showing Irv's farewell speech. It is surprisingly touching.

Buster Keaton on Candid Camera In 1961 the great silent film comedian Buster Keaton was recruited to appear on Candid Camera. He appears as a disaster-prone diner customer who has mishaps galore as he tries to eat a bowl of soup. His fellow unsuspecting diners have trouble hiding their laughter.

He And She - Failed Sitcom 1967 In the fall of 1967 CBS introduced one of its first urbane, "sophisticated" situation comedies--He & She. It flopped despite having an excellent cast. Real-life husband and wife Richard Benjamin and Paula Prentiss played Dick and Paula Hollister. Dick was a cartoonist; Paula worked for Travelers' Aid in New York City. Dick's creation of Jetman was turned into a TV series with Jack Cassidy playing the role. Even though it had two blockbuster hits (The Beverly Hillbillies and Green Acres) preceding it in CBS' Wednesday night lineup, viewers generally did not stick around for He & She. Benjamin believed that the two popular lead-in shows actually served to hurt He & She because its urban comedy was a world apart from that of the rural sitcoms. Twenty-six episodes were made in the lone season it aired. Here is the opening montage.
