Annie Oakley born August 13 1860 A little slice of American history from the Edison Black Maria studio from November of 1894, shows the real life Annie Oakley, shooting fixed targets and tossed glass balls. Truly a fascinating little piece of film that bridges the real Wild West with a theme that was to run through countless fictional movies in the century to follow. The only problem I had with this was her close proximity to the targets.

Diffrent Strokes cast photo This is a cast photo from Diff'rent Strokes, a popular NBC sitcom that ran from 1978 through 1985. The show was about a Park Avenue millionaire widower who decides to adopt two black kids. (I'm sure that happens all the time!) The cst members were Todd Bridges as Willis, Conrad Bain as Mr. Drummond, Dana Plato as Kimberley, and Gary Coleman as Arnold. Today the show is cynically remembered for the legal and social troubles that befell its youthful stars. A Johnny Carson Carnac routine summed it up best: The answer is coffee, donuts, and a Diff'rent Strokes cast member. The question is name three things you find in the back seat of a police car!

Brooklyn Bridges 125th Birthday One Hundred and Twenty-five years after it's construction, the Brooklyn Bridge remains a powerful symbol of engineering might and imagination, and a revered fixture in the landscape of the nation's largest city. And it can still attract a crowd, like the one at the bridge's 125th birthday blowout Thursday night, May 22, 2008, which featured fireworks, a Navy flyover, a colorful new lighting scheme, a musical tribute to honor the storied span, and even a birthday cake in the shape of the bridge. ********* More Info in Comments:

Our Gang Cast Photo 1933 This is a terrific photograph of the Our Gang cast. It was taken in 1933 during the making of 'Fish Hooky.' This photo bridges the eras of the Our Gang troupe. Fish Hooky saw the return of Farina and Joe Cobb in brief cameo roles after a long absence. It is the last episode that Wheezer (third from the left) appears in, and it shows a very young Spanky McFarland at the far right. Fish Hooky is consisdered one of the best Our Gang shorts ever made. ('Old-timers' Mary Kornman and Mickey Daniels also appeared in the film as the school teacher and truant officer respectively, but alas, are not present in this still photo.)

Diffrent Strokes dad Conrad Bain Passes Age 89 Conrad Bain, the actor who played the father figure on the sitcom "Diff'rent Strokes," has died, a source close to the Bain family. Bain died Monday night in Livermore, Calif., at the age of 89. His cause of death was unclear, but his daughter Jennifer told TMZ. Bain's death leaves only one surviving member from his "Diff'rent Strokes" TV family. Dana Plato, who played his daughter Kimberly, died in 1999 of a drug overdose. Gary Coleman, who played adopted son Arnold Jackson, died in 2010 after a fall down a flight of stairs in his home. Only Todd Bridges, who played his adopted son Willis Jackson, remains.
