SCIENCE FICTION THEATER segments from a COLOR episode from 1955! From a show that was originally broadcast on April 16, 1955, here are the opening and closing segments of a Science Fiction Theater episode, called "Time is Just a Place," IN COLOR! Not only is this episode about time travel, but it stars one of my favorite character actors, Warren Stevens, who also appeared in "Forbidden Planet" and a Star Trek TOS episode "By Any Other Name." Also in this particular episode is Don DeFore, who starred in the TV sitcom "Hazel." This episode is VERY typical of 1950s TV, where they gave you the title of the episode at the beginning AND after the commercial break at :15 minutes into the episode!

Derek Jeter Bids Farewell To Yankee Stadium The New York Yankees' played their final home game at Yankee Stadium on September 28, 2008. After the game (a 7-3 Yankee victory over Baltimore), Yankee shortstop Derek Jeter made a brief speech. Even this diehard Red Sox fan has to admit it was well done

Rich Little on Dean Martin Celebrity Roast for Frank Sinatra Dean Martin was one of America's greatest legends in the entertainment industry. He is sorely missed even to this day. He honors or roasts his beloved friend and American icon, Frank Sinatra, in one of his many roasts. In my opinion, even the half-hour infomercial is far more entertaining than anything on television today. I miss people like Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, and so many others. There are more people who are gone than living with us like Don Rickles, Peter Falk, and Ruth Buzzi. Frank Sinatra's roast is pretty relaxed from what we know. We're glad to see celebrities cut loose and be themselves and poke fun at this man. Nobody will ever have the roasts that Dean ever put together in Las Vegas. Of course, people were smoking cigarettes (God forbid that you display any smoking on television anymore) and drinking liquor and being human anymore. Those days are gone forever and now you have a bit of history with these episodes. Even though they drank and smoked, they always appeared to be having fun at themselves.

Denver Declines 1976 Winter Olympics Remember Denver hosting the 1976 Winter Olympics? No? That's because the Colorado capital was supposed to host the Games but didn't. In May 1970, the International Olympic Committee chose Denver to host '76 Winter Games ahead of bids from locales in Switzerland, Finland, and Canada. The USOC was ecstatic, but the taxpayers of Colorado were far less enthusiastic when they learned they would be footing much of the Games' costs. Within a very short time, an anti-Games movement grew in the state. During the 1972 election campaign, a plebiscite asked Coloradoans what they thought about a $5-million bond issue to finance the Games. On the same night Richard Nixon was re-elected, Colorado voters rejected the bond issue by a substantial 60/40 ratio. (In retrospect, that $5 million would have only covered a small fraction of the Games' actual costs.) A week after the voters spoke, Denver officially withdrew as the host city for 1976 Winter Olympics. The Games were hastily given to Innsbruck, Austria--where the 1964 Games had been held--because the facilities were already in place.

The Twelve Chairs Gorgeous Frank Langella (from Dracula 1979) starred in one of Mel Brooks earlier films. The story goes something like this: An aging ex-nobleman of the Czarist regime has finally adjusted to life under the commissars in Russia. He and the local priest find that the family jewels were hidden in a chair, one of a set of twelve, so they return separately to Moscow to find the hidden fortune. We rented this film because it was the only Mel Brooks movie I hadn't seen. Since I'm a rabid Brooks fan I thought, 'Why not see them all?' It was great!!

Celebrity Death Quiz I hope you don't find this morbid, but I've always been fascinated by the way some celebrities have died. Here's a related quiz: In the first comment box I'll list the names of 10 celebrities. Next I'll list 10 causes of death. See if you can match each celebrity with his/her cause of death. Sounds like fun, huh?

Ummm...The Price Is Wrong If it is true what I have heard, that the armed forces are known for paying extraordinary prices for everyday items, then this guy must be a company man all the way. The woman sure loved his bid tho.

BIDDU ORCHESTRA Summer Of 42 I Could Have Danced All Night Exodus My favorite version of Summer of 42, it make the club scene back in 1976 and some air play in the US. I'm going to bet CarlBuchanan might be my only fan for this one though.
