Raindrops Keep Falling on my Head BJ Thomas B.J. Thomas sings his most famous song, Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head, on The Ed Sullivan Show in 1970. The hit song was used as backgroud music for the totally pointless bicycle scene in the movie Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.

Bicycles of the 1970s The blue Rollfast skoot was the best wheelie bike I tried.I used to borrow it off my friends sister the gearing was just right. She was also my 1st love until I told her I didn't like Donny Osmond her idol. She dumped me before I was even loaded! The demise of the muscle bike was the stick shift causing injuries. My problem was the gooseneck raising my voice. When B.M.X. hit the scene they had a pad there Why didn't I think of that?About 15 yrs.ago I bought a 3sp. CHOPPER $5.00 at a garage sale in bad shape called a museum in Chicago for it's value sold it to a local bike store for $150 they reconditioned it and it now hangs from their ceiling. The Grey ghost Schwinn when I last checked yrs.ago was worth several 1000 dollars!I owned a Iverson 5sp. muscle bike desgned by George Barris the custom car designer of Batmobile.Green Hornet,Surf woody,Pink Panther,Chipmunk,Munster Koach,Dragula,Beverly Hillbillies,Monkeemobile,General Lee,Knight Rider,Starsky & Hutch,Banachek,etc...He did not design the DeLorean in back to the future, though most beleive he did.LONG story lonnng my bike is worth(was) over $1000.00 Because of George Barris' role in design.

Featured Member - Donmac I was born in a small town on the banks of the river Tay in Scotland, 1961. Like many others I played football in the streets, went camping and my personal favourite, long bicycle rides. Also playing a large part of my formative years were TV and cinema and being that I lived next door to our local Odeon cinema I was on first name terms with the staff so never had to pay for entry and the highlight of my week being the Saturday morning cinema kids club. Left school well educated but with no real purpose in mind so wandered from job to job which in a way helped me take part in stage, film and TV exta work, a real passion and a great hobby. I had even thought of becoming a professional actor but was told by many that it was a hard egg to crack, so my wanderings continued. My life as was, was brought to an abrupt halt in 1999 which since then has made me focus on the future and become more mature, rather than the self centred, egotistical person I used to be and now with a great partner who sees me through the the good and the bad times. I work full time for the Savation Army and have became a comitted Christian and in a small way, feel that I make a difference in the lives of others.

1933 Adolf Hitler Baby Photo Hoax In 1933, this supposed baby picture of Adolf Hitler circulated in newspapers in England and the United States. When it appeared in the Chicago Tribune in October 1933, the German consulate in that city denounced the photo as a hoax and provided a real baby photo of Hitler (which I posted on this website a little while ago). The hoax photo came from the London Bureau of Acme Newsphotos and originated from an unknown source in Austria. In 1938, Mrs. Harriet Downs of Lakewood, Ohio saw the photo in a magazine and recognized it as a doctored version of a photo of her two-year-old son, John May Warren, taken in 1932! The photo had been deliberately altered to make the child look sinister. How a baby photo from Ohio ended up in the hands of a hoaxer in Austria has never been discovered. Tragically, the boy in this photo died a few months later, at the age of eight, in a bicycle mishap.

1905 Dawson City Nuggets One of the great sports stories of the twentieth century was the improbable challenge for the Stanley Cup made by the Dawson City Nuggets back in 1905. The Cup was still a challenge trophy at the time, and somehow a group of recreational hockey players from the distant Yukon Territory was granted permission by the Cup's trustees to play the powerful Ottawa Silver Seven for Lord Stanley's hardware in 1905. Now all they had to do was travel 4,400 miles to Ottawa for the best-of three series. The Nuggets made their way to the Canadian capital by bicycle, dog sled, boat, railroad, and on foot. They arrived in Ottawa exhausted just one day before the first game was scheduled. They promptly lost 9-2. The next game was even worse. The defending champs from Ottawa won 23-2. Frank McGee notched 14 goals for the winners.

Ride Captain Ride BIG WHEELS . . .introduced by Louis Marx and Company in 1969, the Big Wheel was a very popular toy in the 1970s in the United States, partly because of its low cost and partly because consumer groups said it was a safer alternative to the traditional tricycle or bicycle . . guess i was a little too old for this one! . . there are a couple of other pics of Big Wheels on this site, but i loved this little guy!
