Taser Incident On September 17, 2007, U.S. Senator John Kerry addressed a Constitution Day forum at the University of Florida in Gainesville, which was organized by the ACCENT Speakers Bureau, an agency of the university's student government. Initially allowed to ask questions after the close of the question period, Andrew Meyer, a 21-year-old fourth-year undergraduate mass communication student, entered into a planned line of questioning and was forcibly pulled away from the microphone. He immediately resisted the campus security and was subsequently arrested by university police. During arrest, the officers asked him repeatedly to stop resisting, but Meyer continued to struggle and scream for help. While six officers held Meyer down[1] one of the officers drive stunned him with a Taser following Meyer's shouted plea to the police, "Don't tase me, bro!" The video became a popular viral hit.

Family Ties Looking back 25 Years Family Ties ran for 8 years and starred Michael J. Fox as Alex P. Keaton, the conservative, business-oriented son of liberal parents Elyse and Steven (Meredith Baxter-Birney and Michael Gross). Elyse was a successful architect, while Steven ran a public television station. They lived in suburban Columbus, Ohio with their children: Alex (Michael J Fox, Mallory (Justine Bateman) and Jennifer (Tina Yothers). Another child, Andrew (Brian Bonsall), was added later. The majority of the show's humor was derived from the tension between Alex's conservative, Republican mindset, Mallory's uninformed consumerism, and their parents' attitudes as liberal Democrats, who grew up as hippie flower children in the 1960s. This show gave Michael J Fox his shot at superstardom, and aren't we all glad it did! This show began two spinoffs, Day by Day, which lasted two seasons, and The Art of Being Nick, which was produced as a pilot but never picked up as a series.

Julie Andrews - My Fair Lady Here is a rare 1961 clip of Julie Andrews in her famous role as Eliza Doolittle singing Wouldn't It Be Loverly. Is it any wonder why people went wild over this play?

The National Police Gazette my grandmother loved all the old detective magazines . . i didn't realize at the time how risque they were! Here's a little history: "By far the most famous publication in the United States by this name was officially The National Police Gazette, although commonly referred to as simply the Police Gazette. It was founded in 1845 by George Wilkes, a journalist and sometime transcontinental railroad booster. The editor for most of the 19th century was Richard K. Fox, an immigrant from Ireland. Ostensibly devoted to matters of interest to the police, it was more often a tabloid-like publication, with lurid coverage of murders, Wild West outlaws, and sport."

The Andrew Sisters During a time when teenagers were doing the jitterbug and Uncle Sam was asking young men to enlist, The Andrews Sisters were America’s most popular female singing group. Patty, the youngest sister, was a loud and energetic blond who headed the group with her confident vocals. The middle sister was Maxene, a brunette, whose harmonic range gave the impression of four voices instead of three. Finally, completing the trio was the eldest, LaVerne, a strong willed red head with a witty sense of humor and an eye for fashion. ACHIEVEMENTS · Earned nine gold records · Recorded over 700 songs · First all-female group to have a record go platinum · Sold over 90 million records · One of the first vocal groups inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame · Over 100 songs on top 30 Billboard charts · 46 songs reach the top 10 on the Billboard charts · Some hits include: “Beer Barrel Polka” (Roll out the Barrel), “Bei Mir Bist Du Schon” (means that you’re grand), “Don’t Fence Me In” and “Winter Wonderland”

The Andrew Sisters Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy This really fits after Teresa's post of the Andrew Sisters. At the beginning of World War II, the War department, through the Army Services Forces — Special Services Division, distributed thousands of shellac phonograph records (V DISCS) to Army Forces throughout the world, this was one of them.

Remembering Robert Goulet Robert Goulet passed away this morning (10/30) while awaiting a lung transplant at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles after being found last month to have a rare form of pulmonary fibrosis. He had remained in good spirits even as he waited for the transplant, said Vera Goulet, his wife of 25 years. "Just watch my vocal cords," she said he told doctors before they inserted a breathing tube. He was the only son of French Canadian parents, Joseph Georges Andre Goulet and the former Jeanette Gauthier. Though he was born in Massachusetts, his parents moved back to Canada just a few months after his birth. He gained stardom in 1960 with "Camelot," the Lerner and Loewe musical that starred Richard Burton as King Arthur and Julie Andrews as his Queen Guenevere. In his last performance Sept. 20 in Syracuse, N.Y., the crooner was backed by a 15-piece orchestra as he performed the one-man show "A Man and his Music." Robert Goulet won a 1968 Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical for this performance in " The Happy Time". He was 73.
