1971 Budweiser Commercial This commercial has the 1970s written all over it. Very catchy how it mixes various types of music together.

Gigglesnort Hotel Here is a fun segment with B.J. and Blob from one of the best and most remembered Chicago children's shows (although it was eventually syndicated to other markets) - Gigglesnort Hotel. Even though it was seen for many years after it was produced, the show was only in production for 3 years - 1975, 1976, and 1977. In Chicago, it aired on Sunday mornings on WLS Channel 7.

The New Treasure Hunt Anyone else remember this wacky, syndicated game show? Airing from 1974 through 1977, it was sort of a cross between Let's Make A Deal and Deal Or No Deal. A lucky contestant chose one of 30 numbered boxes. A box might contain anything from a worthless prize (known as a clunk) to $25,000--a fantastic sum back then. After choosing a box, the contestant was put through an emotional wringer by host Geoff Edwards. This clip from 1976 provides a good example of what typically occurred on this show.

Red Barn Commercial 1971 Red Barn was a hugely popular hamburger restaurant in my hometown in the early 1970s. (I used to get a free burger coupon in the mail around my birthday!) Red Barn was a chain of burger joints that had locations in 19 states and Canada. The facades of their restaurants were designed to look like barns. This is a 1971 commercial advertising the Barnbuster burger. The main character, Hamburger Hungry, looked too much like Ernie from Sesame Street and had to be redesigned not long after this commercial aired to avoid copyright troubles.
