Joe Cocker - With a Little Help From My Friends. Joe Cocker & The Greaseband performing With a Little Help From My Friends
(NOT @ WOODSTOCK)Recorded in London, it is vintage stuff, and 100 years from its making will no doubt be respected for the historic and studious record that it is.
*****IN DEDICATION, With a Little Help From My Friends - The keyboard player was Chris Stainton, another Sheffield born man (known to his friends as Robin) who went on to tour extensively with Eric Clapton. The bassist was Alan Spenner, who went on to play in the UK white soul outfit Kokomo, with rhythm guitarist Neil Hubbard. Spenner is rumoured to be the first white man to be offered a session job at Motown Records. Drummer Bruce Rowland later joined Fairport Convention from 1975 through 1979. Henry McCullough was the lead guitarist, a role he later occupied in Paul McCartney's Wings, and continues today as a solo artist.

Reputed to be America's most attractive American First Lady, Frances Folsom was the wife of Grover Cleveland. Cleveland was a bachelor when he became president in 1885. He married Folsom in 1886 when he was 49 and she was not quite 22, making her the youngest First Lady ever. (Attaboy, Grover!) Her father, Herbert Folsom, had been Cleveland's best friend. When Herbert died in 1875, Cleveland became the executor of his estate and 11-year-old Frances became Cleveland's ward. That Cleveland's relationship with Frances eventually evolved from guardian to romantic interest would likely be considered scandalous today, but little was made of it in 1886. They had a happy 22-year marriage that ended with the former president's death in 1908. She died in 1947.

Here is a fun segment with B.J. and Blob from one of the best and most remembered Chicago children's shows (although it was eventually syndicated to other markets) - Gigglesnort Hotel. Even though it was seen for many years after it was produced, the show was only in production for 3 years - 1975, 1976, and 1977. In Chicago, it aired on Sunday mornings on WLS Channel 7.

Canadian born Florence Lawrence was America's first big movie star--but no one knew her name. During the first decade of the twentieth century, movie companies did not publicize their actors' names in order to keep their salaries down. Florence Lawrence made dozens of films for D.W. Griffith's Biograph Company and became the studio's most noteworthy star. Nevertheless she remained anonymous. Known to her fans only as 'the Biograph girl,' she was earning just $25 per week. When she left Biograph in 1910 to join the newly formed IMP company, her new studio started a false rumor that she had been killed in a streetcar accident in St. Louis. It then announced that 'the Biograph girl' was Florence Lawrence. She was alive and well and about to star in a new film for IMP. This was likely the first Hollywood publicity stunt. Lawrence appeared in more than 300 films, but her popularity waned almost as quickly as it had grown. By the 1920s she had only uncredited bit roles and was earning $75 per week. The Great Depression ruined her finanacially and she endured three unhappy marriages. In December 1938, a week before 53rd birthday, Lawrence committed suicide by ingesting ant paste.
