Julie Newmar- Then and Now Born Julia Chalene Newmeyer we know her better as Catwoman in the Batman television series. She stared in 12 episodes. In the 1980s and early 1990s, Newmar appeared in several low-budget films. She also guest-starred on TV shows including The Love Boat, Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, Hart to Hart, CHiPs and Fantasy Island. She was seen in George Michael's video clip Too Funky in 1992 as well as appearing as herself in a 1996 episode of Melrose Place. A legal altercation with her neighbor, Jim Belushi, ended amicably with an invitation to co-star with him on his sitcom According to Jim in an episode that poked fun at the feud. Not too bad for being 75 years old!

Awww Happy Birthday Snoopy Snoopy first made his appearance on the strip on October 4, 1950, two days after the strip premiered, and was identified by name on November 10. Schulz was originally going to call him "Sniffy" (as described in 25th anniversary book, Peanuts Jubilee, (pg. 20)), until he discovered that name was used in a different comic strip. Snoopy was a silent character for the first two years of his existence, but on May 27, 1952 he verbalized his thoughts to readers for the first time via a thought balloon; Schulz would utilize this device for nearly all of the character's appearances in the strip thereafter. In addition to Snoopy's ability to "speak" his thoughts to the reader, many of the human characters in Peanuts have the uncanny knack of reading his thoughts and responding to them.

Jeremy Gelbwaks - Original Chris Partridge The Partridge Family was an ABC musical sitcom that ran for four seasons from 1970 to 1974. The show's premise was that recently widowed mother Shirley Partridge and her five children decide to form a pop group to make ends meet and earn money for the children's college funds. The show was loosely based on the real family musical group The Cowsills. In the show's first season Chris Partridge, the drummer and youngest son, was played by Jeremy Gelbwaks. (He seldom had more than two lines in an episode. In fact, in the last episode Gelbwaks appeared in, he had no lines whatsoever.) After the 1970-71 season Gelbwaks was replaced in the cast by Brian Forster. The reason why the change was made varies depending upon whom you ask. Gelbwaks' father was a federal government employee whose job forced him to relocate from California to Virginia just as the show's first season was concluding. The move made it difficult for Jeremy to continue his role as Chris Partridge. However, stories persist that Gelbwaks was a hellion on the set and the show's producers wanted to get rid of him. Danny Bonaduce (who played middle son Danny Partridge--and was admittedly no angel himself) once stated in an interview that Gelbwaks was "psychotic." David Cassidy (who played oldest son and teen heartthrob Keith Partridge) apparently couldn't stand Gelbwaks' on-set antics--which included kicking other cast members just before the director called "Action!" Whether Gelbwaks left on his own accord because of his family's out-of-state move or whether he was was forced out of the cast because of his bad behavior remains a matter of conjecture. Perhaps it was a combination of the two. ABC received zero letters of complaint regarding the cast change. Gelbwaks never worked in show business again. According to a fansite, Gelbwaks is married and lives in New Orleans. Gelbwaks appeared on Danny Bonaduce's short-lived syndicated talk show in 1995 when most of The Partridge Family cast gathered for a 25th anniversary reunion. Both Chrises made appearances on that program and there seemed to be no animosity among those who were present. (David Cassidy was unavailable to appear, however.)

First Female President - Edith Wilson There hasn't been a female president of the United States, you say? Technically that's correct. However, many historians consider the second Mrs. Woodrow Wilson to have been a de facto president. Woodrow Wilson was first elected president in 1912. His wife Ellen died of Bright's Disease in 1914. In March 1915, Wilson met a widow 15 years his junior, Edith Bolling Galt. A whirlwind romance occurred. The two were married in December 1915. In August 1919, while on a cross-country tour to garner support for his proposed League of Nations, president Wilson suffered a stroke. The seriousness of the president's affliction was not widely known. Throughout the remaining 19 months of Wilson's presidency, Edith greatly assisted her husband. According to her memoirs, she made numerous decisions regarding which tasks and paperwork would and would not occupy the president's time. Some historians claim she went beyond her wifely duties and actually made presidential decisions on her husband's behalf. Wilson died in 1924. After Edith's death in 1961, the stories of her excessive influence on the ailing president helped spur the passage of the 25th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution which, under special circumstances, gives presidential powers to the vice-president when a president is alive but greatly incapacitated.
