The record that is referred to in this clip is 'Young Love' which was number one on the charts for five weeks.

Good point, Classico. To further the irony, the band was urged to play La Marseillaise by Victor Laszlo (a Czech) with the approval of Richard Blaine (an American) all of which moves Ilsa Lund (a Norwegian) to tears.

Maybe, Legends of the Fall

correction above: with Martina Hingis as partner

Ah, Miss AnnaK!!!
What a hottie. Those good looks got her millions.
Her playing career was not the complete dismal failure as some believe: she did reach # 8 in the WTA and won a major doubles championship was Martina Hingis. Ankle and back problems kept her becoming a top singles player. But she sure looked good trying!!

The first one is from the movie, Legends in the Fall. I think it is the theme of the movie. And, the second one is from the movie, Brokeback Moutain or Shawshank Redemption. Also understand that I sometimes can be terribly wronghttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dIcP9BCbPfw
My first post so everything will probably go wrong with the link.

The Carradines are one of Hollywood's most talented families. Perhaps the best of all time.

|
The irony of this scene being that the French were outraged by the singing of Watch on the Rhine and retaliated by singing their national anthem --- on Moroccan territory!

As of this minute, Canada has 12 Olympic medals from Beijing--and only two are gold.
In other words, American swimmer Michael Phelps has amassed four times as many gold medals as Canada has.
We Canadians need to recruit better drug-cheats.

Yep, the first time I heard the tune I was struck by its stirring beauty.
As a Canadian I heard it plenty of times before international hockey games with our great rival.

although i don't care for the politics of the soviet union, you gotta admit that this was a beautiful (sounding) song.

For what it's worth, I've always thought The Hymn of the Soviet Union was the catchiest national anthem I've ever heard--and I'm about as anti-communist as one can be.

There's never an exact translation from language to language, but here's a reasonable translation of La Marseillaise into English:
Arise, children of the Fatherland!
The day of glory has arrived!
Against us tyranny's
Bloody sword is raised.
Listen to the sounds in the fields!
The howling of the fearsome soldiers.
They are coming in our midst
To cut the throats of your sons and consorts.
To arms, citizens!
Form your battalions!
March! March!
Let impure blood
Water our furrows!
