1960s / Emile Griffith Vs Benny Paret 1962
The title fight that ended boxing on TV for years: From March 24, 1962, challenger Emile Griffith knocks out a helpless Benny Paret to win the world welterweight championship. Paret, age 25, died of his injuries nine days later. This was the third bout bewteen the two men. They had split their first two encounters. The fight had been quite close going into the fateful 12th round.
