In what may have been the worst career move in television history, McLean Stevenson left the cast of MASH in 1975 and signed a long term-contract with NBC. MASH lasted until 1983 and is listed among the all-time great series. Stevenson was given roles in five different NBC series, none of which lasted more than a season and a half. Stevenson rued his decision until his death in 1992.
