1950s / Mothers Day Intruder on Whats My Line
Why live TV is better than taped shows: On May 10, 1959, an intruder rushed onto the set of What's My Line. Milton Berle had just been revealed as the mystery guest. The Associated Press reported what occurred: "...a man in the studio audience of 550 left his seat, walked to the stage, and approached the official guest, comedian Milton Berle. The man shook hands with Berle. He then announced "I finally made it on Mothers Day." Without another word, the man walked backstage. Police later identified him as Cornelius McConell, 44, a New York City postal worker. He was sent to Bellevue Hospital for psychiatric examination."
