December 14th marks the birthday of Charlie Rich, one of the most talented, yet underrated musicians of our time. Here he is performing "The Most Beautiful Girl" on The Dean Martin show in the late 70's. At this time in his life his battle with emphysema was becoming evident in how exerted he was coming up the steps. He continued to sing and keep his concert dates, but by the 90's he had pretty much gone into retirement, only playing at his home studio or when an intervew took him away to another location. His last professional release was his most proud creation, his R&B album of Pictures and Paintings in 1992.
