Oh How I Hate To Get Up In The Morning Here's another clip from the movie This Is The Army (1943)--and perhaps the most memorable: Irving Berlin singing one of his own songs...Oh, How I Hate To Get Up In The Morning.

Clearly Irving Berlin's musical strength was not singing. Indeed, this number has a funny anecdote attached to it. Apparently a stagehand working on the movie set had no idea that it was Irving Berlin singing his own song. He commented to another stagehand that it was a good thing the songwriter wasn't there to here what the singer was doing to it!

The singer wearing the civilian suit of clothes in George Murphy. He played Ronald Reagan's father in the movie even though he was just nine years older than the future president.

Murphy himself became a senator for California in 1965.
