Patches - Dickie Lee 1962 I have an old friend that I have not seen in a lot of years. He named his first daughter Patches because he loved this song so much. She would be about 40 years old today.

Wow, does this ever bring back memories. There were a handful of these types of songs recorded from the late 50's to mid 60's. It never occurred to me then, but so many of us loved the songs that made us cry. Jody Reynolds' Endless Sleep, Johnny Tillotson's Tell Laura I Love Her, Teen Angel by Mark Dinning, even Honey by Bobby Goldsboro..they were all so sad. No wonder so many boomers did drugs in the 70s...we needed them to cheer up! Before someone comments to this, yes, I know not ALL of us did.
