Here's a terrific photo of a collection of baseball greats as they posed at Toots Shor's New York City restaurant with the proprietor. This was probably taken before they departed for the 1951 Hall of Fame induction ceremonies in Cooperstown. If someone had an autograph book that day and was savvy enough to collect these men's signatures, he could easily retire on what those would be worth today. Arlie Latham and Charley 'Kid' Nicholls were indeed old coots when this photo was taken. They had both been stars in the 19th century! Latham died in 1952. He had worked as a press box attendant at the Polo Grounds through the 1951 season!
