There was once a time when Mike Tyson was a positive force for boxing. He was six months shy of his 20th birthday when he first appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated in 1986 billed as 'Kid Dynamite.' Tyson's story made good copy: He was a tough kid from the projects who was more or less adopted by boxing guru Cus D'Amato and turned into a champion with frightening power. D'Amato also instilled in Tyson a love of boxing history--a rare commodity among modern pugilists. D'Amato died not long afterwards. So did another one of Tyson's handlers, Jim Jacobs. Tyson wed actress Robin Givens, but the marriage was a disaster. Things spiralled downward from that point... Agreed, Cliffy. The folks who were originally with Tyson were good, caring people. When they died or were ousted, Tyson's career went downhill quickly.
