Original SPACE 1999 Intro with Bain and Landau from 1975 Here is the way "Space: 1999" began in September of 1975. This original intro was taped on U-Matic (3/4") tape, then I got a Beta copy from it...doesn't look all that bad!! This shows the original opening and first few minutes of the pilot.

My family watched this show, but it didn't come close to being as good as Mission Impossible, which starred Barbara Bain and Martin Landau, who were spouses at the time.

A great Sci-Fi show of it's time. I've always thought the Anderson's should be more recognised for the shows they made and produced as they had such an impact on a generation.

I posted this in the 60's section. Martin Landau auditioned to play Spock on Star Trek, but lost out to Leonard Nimoy. Leonard Nimoy replaced Martin Landau on Mission Impossible when both he and Barbara Bain left.
