One of the episodes of Danny's show had Danny traveling through the town of Mayberry and introduced the character of Andy Taylor who was then spun off to his own series The Andy Griffith Show (1960).
Penny Parker beat a then-unknown actress named Mary Tyler Moore for the role of Terry. According to Danny Thomas, the only reason Parker got the part was because he felt Moore's nose looked different enough from his so that nobody would believe she was his daughter.
The title 'Make Room for Daddy' actually grew out of an in-joke within Danny Thomas's family. Whenever Danny was away on a nightclub tour, his children more or less had the run of the house. When he returned from a tour, it was time to spread out and make room for daddy, hence the show's title.
