1964 postcard featuring McDonald's Filet-o'-Fish McDonald's introduced the Filet-o'-Fish sandwich in the early 1960s in an effort to entice Catholics to the chain on Fridays. At the time, Catholics were not allowed to eat meat on any Friday of the calendar year.

That looks yummy! I wonder if it was a real bun and a real fish fillet? I remember my grandmother always ate fish on Friday, but I had no idea the vatican had changed it.

This was always one of my favorite McDonald's sandwiches. Now they are about as big around as a fifty cent piece and sure don't look like that picture!
