A little slice of American history from the Edison Black Maria studio from November of 1894, shows the real life Annie Oakley, shooting fixed targets and tossed glass balls. Truly a fascinating little piece of film that bridges the real Wild West with a theme that was to run through countless fictional movies in the century to follow. The only problem I had with this was her close proximity to the targets. Tags:annieoakleyfrontierhistory Added: 13th August 2007 Views: 454 Rating: Posted By:Naomi
I suspect she was so close to the targets because of the limited abilitiies of 19th century movie cameras to do long shots well. (By the way, in the days of the Old West, you were considered a good shot if you could hit a man-sized targe from a distance of 50 yards.)
