In the whole of my life, so far I haven't ever seen a furniture suite covered in plastic, except in the showroom. Is this a peculiarity of the US.?

Sad to say that some Canadians protect their furniture that way too. I always figure a living room should be lived in, not protected like it's a priceless museum display.

This is so funny!! I thought my family were the only ones who did this!! You should try sitting for any length of time with shorts on, and then getting up....OWWWWWW!

it IS hilarious, Naomi . .i HAD to post this one . . and i think the plastic thing is a GLOBAL issue, Lava!! LOL but, i'm with you . . i like to feel really comfy!! I had a friend growing up who's mom had a totally white living room. . .NO ONE was allowed in there . . it was like a museum . .

I remember a few familys years ago had that plastic on there furniture. Always hated that. It's takes away the beautiful fabric underneath. Might as well put plastic on the floor too. Lol! Kid Proofed!! You ever had to clean up red Kool-Aid on the carpet? To each his own I say. My Mom had a living room, without the plastic that was just gorgeous. But we never used it,almost for show. Family room downstairs was the real living room. Thats wild how a picture can bring back such memories.Thanks great pic!
