Alex Trebek hosted this game show that was taped in Vancouver and later became infamous. The producers of Pitfall had big plans for this syndicated show, assuming it would get picked up by a multitude of American stations. It didn't, and many winners never collected their prizes. Alex also got stiffed. Last I heard he had never received a penny for his work as host and is still bitter about being stiffed by fellow Canadians. Notice that some of the prizes the contestant is trying to win are generic. Apparently the producers figured they could acquire brand-name prizes from sponsors once the show became popular.
I live in the antracite region of PA Phobe Snow the ads during Steam locomotives were because it burned so clean you could wear snow white 1900's dresses.Frogs I know it all!grew up in jersey(the swamps)I was at my 1st Communion in a suit.My friend stopped by we went FROG HUNTING.I never changed my clothes. My mom loved that when I came back from the swamp!I used to put them in the milk box with a stone on the lid. When we had milkmen(person)He opened it up one morning,And must of almost had a heartattack like a jack-in-the-box.I was mad my frogs had escaped.I got the milk for mom and there was a note with the bill,Please tell your kid not to put frogs in the milkbox! Now ask me about snapping turtles. We had one so large the shell was larger then the circumference of the old style metal trash can. They can bite your finger off, they used to take pieces off our oars/paddles.2006 New York School kids made it the state reptile.PS people used to sell them to Campbells Soup in Camden NJ Snapping turtle soup.I haven't seen it in years. But I'm preety sure the men weren't lying. Why else would they be out with little kids hunting turtles. It is true they stopped selling it in the 70's.
