In February 1933, less than three weeks before being sworn in as the chief executive of the United States, president-elect Franklin Roosevelt survived an assassination attempt in Miami. Unfortunately, Chicago's mayor Anton Cernak, was struck by a shot intended for Roosevelt. He died of his wounds. The assassin said he didn't personally dislike Roosevelt.
