Technically, the Wicked Witch of the West didn't have a name in the original works. She was simply The Wicked Witch. Her sister, whom Dorothy Gale killed (by accident) upon her arrival in Oz was simply known by the title 'Wicked witch of the East'. In later books by different authors, the wicked witch was named Elphaba, a contraction of L. Frank Baum's name

This actress was Margaret Hamilton, but other than that, I just know her by her title 'Wicked Witch of the West.'
The 1910 silent film 'The Wonderful Wizard of Oz' featured a character similar to the Wicked Witch of the West, identified as 'Momba the Witch'.

Wow Tommy, not too many seem to remember that!

I'm sure the name 'Dorothy Gale' was a clever play on words foreshadowing the storm that would send Dorothy to Oz.

Dear Marty.
The Wicked Witch Of The Westwas played
by a dear friend of mine..Ms.Margret Hamtion.
Maggie(She never like to be called Ms.Hamilton
or even Margie)was nothing like Ms.Gulichor
The Wicked Witch.
She was a sweet, caring, intelligent and kindly
person.
A talented performer and oh! what a wonderful
wit she had.
To this day(Crying)
I still miss her!
Thanks For Remembering The Wicked Witch
Mr.Nostalgia!
