The word is; Connie Talbot has signed a six figure deal with Rainbow Recording Company. She release her first album on November 26. Her first single was “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.
Simon was so impressed by her that he personally agreed to sign her to a seven-figure deal with his own record label, Sony BMG. That is Pounds not dollars. However, after recording two songs the company changed its mind, saying, she was too young to be their sort of artist and that it was best she go with a company which looks after children. I think the family made the right decision in doing so, seeing all that become of so many of the younger talented artist.
Simon Cowell was quoted as saying- My views on Connie have not changed. I think she’s a wonderful talent. But I was persuaded by everyone at Sony BMG that she is just much too young to be embarking on a recording career. When the time is right I will be delighted to see if we can make it work. My views on Connie are still exactly the same. She’s an amazing little girl with a beautiful voice.

This segment was taped in June 2007 at the auditions for Britain's Got Talent in Birmingham, England. Apparently the judges had endured some awful acts before Connie salvaged things. This clip has had more than 9.1 million views on YouTube.
For what it's worth I think Connie Talbot is the most adorable child on the planet. She won my heart with her first toothless smile. My heart completely melted when she started to sing. (I didn't fare much better than judge Amanda Holden. Remember, I'm a cold-hearted meanie!)
Connie Talbot reached the final but did not win. Paul Potts, the opera-singing mobile phone salesman from Wales, won the competition. (His audition is on this website too!) I would have voted twice: once for Connie and once for Paul.
Connie is now an old lady of seven. She was born in November 2000.

Connie Talbot update: Her first album has sold 130,000 copies in Great Britain. Not bad for a seven-year-old, huh?
