Some interesting trivia:
Jim Nabors said he always had difficulty watching the opening of the show because many of the men that he was seen marching with were killed in Vietnam.
Originally, CBS rejected the show because they felt that many female viewers would be put off by a show with a military theme. But when producer Danny Thomas threatened to take the show to NBC, CBS changed their minds.
Sergeant Carter's actual rank was gunnery sergeant.

The study or collection of trivia is known as spermology, which literally means collection of seeds.
The word "trivia" was popularized in its current meaning in the 1960's by two Columbia University students, who created the earliest inter-collegiate quiz bowls that tested culturally significant yet ultimately unimportant facts, which they dubbed "trivia contests".

I believe that anything that adds color or interest to anything is worthwhile. Thus trivia is important.
When I enter trivia contests, my motto is, 'What I know is knowledge; what I don't know is trivia.'
