He's a true legend in news broadcasting. He was anchorman for The CBS Evening News for 19 years, from 1962–81. In the 1970s and 1980s he was often cited in viewer opinion polls as 'the most trusted man in America,' because of his professional experience and avuncular demeanor. And that's true, everyone respected his opinions and his newscasts. So much has changed.

Amazing how just about everyone old enough to remember JFK's assassination also remembers Walter Cronkite removing his glasses and delivering the tragic news.
