Roberto Duran Quits Versus Ray Leonard 1980 Comments
In this post-fight comments, Duran claimed he had 'stomach cramps'--a story no one believed--not even Duran's trainer Ray Arcel. The previous round Leonard had made Duran look foolish. I went to NY to see the fight on big screen. The whole crowd turned and looked at each other in disbeleif? All I got was a lousy T-shirt with their stats
I was home listening to a radio station that was giving round-by-round reports. I remember there was a big delay before they gave the eighth-round report. I guess no one would believe the report that Duran abruptly quit.
