The Virginian aired on NBC from 1962 to 1971 for a total of 249 episodes. It was unique in that it was the first Western to air in 90-minute installments each week (75 minutes excluding commercial breaks).

. .a little trivia about the original, man in black!!
James Drury made a name for himself by playing a man with no name. For nine seasons, the actor played a man in black known only as The Virginian, a role that took him from obscurity to TV Stardom. But nobody knows the name of my character, Drury says, not even me.

not one of my favorites, i remember this poser riding up to the camera on his gee gee wearing black leather cloves and a big smile.
