Cat Stevens Father and Son 1970 Stevens originally wrote this song as part of a proposed musical project with actor Nigel Hawthorn called 'Revolussia', which was set during the Russian Revolution; the song was about a boy who wanted to join the revolution against the wishes of his father. The musical project faded away but 'Father and Son' remained, now in a more general context that reflected not just the societal conflict of Stevens' time, but also captured the impulses of older and younger generations in general.

Now called Yusuf Islam, Cat Stevens became a Moslim. This however did not detract from the fact that he has turned out some quite unique music and still does to this day. This single was re-released again In the Uk with the funds raised going to charity. He at the moment is making more music and once again the money made will go to helping the children of Iraq.
