There were very few shows of this calibre, My Three Sons, Father Knows Best, Donna Reed, Leave it to Beaver, and The Nelsons. I'm sure I left a few out, but not many.

I wouldn't say The Andy Griffith Show was the best of all time, but it might be the most beloved of all time. It had a genuine warmth about it. People grasped that immediately.

When Don left his really brief appearance on The Andy Griffith Show to appear in the movies like Mr. Lippett, The Ghost and Mr. Chicken and The Shakiest Gun In The West, Andy met with the producers to ensure Don got the best writers, many of his highest grossing movies The Ghost and Mr. Chicken and The Shakiest Gun In The West were based on episodes in the TV show.

You won't find Andy Griffith in any of the credits for those movies, he wanted that way!
