As a kid, I always found this particular installment of Schoolhouse Rock very haunting. (I think it was because of the harpsichord music and the reference to infinity.)

Definitely a haunting little melody there. Did you know that in the mid-1980s, when Schoolhouse Rock left ABC, the network in all its infinite wisdom replaced it with the Puerto Rican teen band Menudo? So much for trying to broaden our children's minds with a bit of creative education..

I don't know anyone who doesn't fondly remember these wonderful educational cartoons. Why they got yanked off the air is a mystery to me.

The demise of Rock coincided with Ronald Reagan's marketplace approach to broadcast regulation, which for children's programming meant that broadcast stations no longer were required to program content for children. Many children's programs were either canceled or scaled back. By the end of 1984, virtually all of the FCC's children's television policies had effectively been removed. According to Squire Rushnell, who was the VP for children's entertainment at ABC during the 70s and 80s, nobody cared about children's programming. With no one pressing from Washington, and no increase in income from segment sponsors, ABC decided to cancel Rock in 1985.

This was my absolute favourite SHR song. I have it as my ringtone! (three is a magic number and unpack your adjectives are runners up....actually, I love them all)
