Sadly, that was Nixon's most famous quote! However, it's more dignified than another president's most famous quote: I did not have sexual relations with that woman!

I think both presidents are both capable of causing political ill feelings here. I read a huge political/religious debate on the Pilgrims today; I guess anything is still debatable today...but who knew the Pilgrims never had buckles for their shoes, belts or hats!

I enjoy laughing at all politicians regardless of their political leanings. You should see some of the goofballs we elect in Canada!

As much as it hurts to say it Lava, you're right!

Steve, Lava and I have an unsigned pact that says we have agreed to disagree. Right Lava? So we won't let politics cause any ill feelings.

So, where in the world did someone come up with the buckle accessories?

To show how open-minded I am tonight, I can't think of any famous quote ever uttered by the first president Bush. Can you?

I was thinking of LBJ not seeking a second term, Kennedy ask not what your country can do for you, and again Nixon's checker's speech, but I'm showing my age!

LOL I just re-read your comment.

1st Bush? Read my lips...no new taxes!

The quality of presidential quotes has certainly dropped since the days of Ronald Reagan, JFK and FDR.

Oh, yes. Bush the Elder's promise not to introduce more taxes. I had forgotten.

Did Ike ever say anything noteworthy in his eight years in the White House?

I was too young to remember hearing or reading the news about Eisenhower, but I'm sure it wouldn't be difficult to find something.

I wish more politicians remember this Eisenhower gem: I can think of nothing more boring for the American people than to have to sit in their living rooms for a whole half hour looking at my face on their television screens.

At least he admitted it. I wish the present admin would.

Never heard that Ike quote before. I love it!

and who mentioned the fact that they didn't inhale? Was it Bush or Clinton?
Posted by: Lava1964 on 2007-11-17
Clinton was the culprit--definitely.

Motivation is the art of getting people to do what you want them to do because they want to do it.

You do not lead by hitting people over the head - that's assault, not leadership

Two more great quotes from Ike! Wow! I'm impressed.

Okay, now try to find anything brilliant Warren Harding ever said!
Posted by: Naomi on 2007-11-17
Warren Harding? Ok, here are two of my favorites:

Only solitary men know the full joys of friendship. Others have their family; but to a solitary and an exile his friends are everything.

I have no trouble with my enemies. I can take care of my enemies in a fight. But my damn friends, they're the ones who keep me walking the floor nights.

More terrific and thoughtful quotes, Naomi. I'm thoroughly impressed.

No modern president has ever had to declare he has not watched porn.

why doesn't anyone ask.

its the only denial I would actually believe from Bush.
