Art Fleming on Whats My Line The first (and best) host of Jeopardy!--Art Fleming--appears as a mystery guest on the syndicated version of What's My Line in February 1973. Jeopardy! was still a noontime staple on NBC when this show aired.

This is what a game show host is supposed to look like! Art Fleming had a domineering by a non-threatening presence.

Fleming never missed a taping of Jeopardy! in the nearly 11 years it was on NBC--that's more than 2,700 broadcasts. Sadly only five of them are known to exist. (Two of them were on YouTube for quite a while, but the powers that be eventually had them yanked for copyright issues. Instead of sharing them for historical purposes, I guess the poobahs prefer nobody sees them. Dunces!)

Bill Flemming--Soupy Sales' embarasingly wrong guess--was an ABC sportscaster at the time. He did many reports for Wide World of Sports.
