I thought this would be relatively easy. I guess it's time for a hint: Picture this man with considerably less hair.

Peter Boyle?

Nope. Here's another clue: He had a prominent role in a CBS sitcom that ran from 1965 to 1971. One might say he had a commanding presence.

Mr. Haney?

The right answer was contributed by a Facebook participant. At least he alluded to it: It's a young Werner Klemperer, who played Colonel Klink on Hogan's Heroes.
Klemperer's father was a maestro who fled Nazi Germany in the 1930s. Many of the HH cast were victims of Naziism: John Banner, Leon Askin and Howard Caine were all Jewish. Askin's parents perished in a concentration camp.

Freckles, I have to admit that guessing a Green Acres cast member made sense since that show also ran from 1965 to 1971.

an actor of great talent - to me, in a show that was filled with superb talent, he was the top star of Hogan's Heroes
