1970 Stanley Cup Semifinal - Bruins vs Hawks Before 2013, the most important NHL playoff series ever contested between the Chicago Blackhawks and Boston Bruins was the 1970 Eastern Division final. Many people considered it to be the "real Stanley Cup final" because the Eastern teams were comprised of the stronger Original Six clubs while the Western Divison was comprised of the expansion teams from 1967. Chicago and Boston had both finished the 1969-70 season with 99 points. Chicago was credited with the top spot on the basis of most wins. Chicago was the slight favorite to win the series--but Boston won the series in surprising four-game sweep. (They would also sweep the overmatched St. Louis Blues in the Cup final.) Here are some highlights of the first three games from the Bruins-Blackhawks series.

Great to see two Original Six teams meet in the finals.
